Do you think your dog is cute enough to be a mascot? If so, the Los Angeles Fire Department wants to hear from you – and see a photo.

The fire department’s fundraising team is hosting a contest where you can nominate your pooch and vote for your favorites.

The Howling Heroes Mascot contest is soliciting entries and votes until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Each vote costs $1, which supports the LAFD Foundation in funding essential equipment and programs, such as the department’s canine therapy program and its search and rescue team, the nonprofit says.

Second and third-place winners will also receive a gift basket of LAFD apparel.
