A 28-year-old man was killed in a collision with a driver suspected of being under the influence and running a red light in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of Los Angeles overnight.

The incident was reported shortly before midnight at the intersection of South Western Avenue and West Century Boulevard.

The driver of a Tesla Model 3 was traveling southbound Western at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light and struck a silver Chevrolet Malibu that was headed eastbound Century, the Los Angeles Police Department stated in a new release.

Surveillance video showed the violent collision between the two vehicles, which propelled the Malibu several yards away from the impact site and caused fatal injuries to the driver.

The deceased driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was later identified as Alfred Joseph Marvray IV.

Family members at the scene told KTLA’s Carlos Herrera that the victim was a wonderful man and the father of a young child.

She was later booked on suspicion of murder and is being held on $2 million bail, police said.
