SAN JOSE, Calif. – A woman found shot to death in downtown San Jose on Friday night was the city’s 12th homicide of the year, police said. Â Â
Officers responded to a report of an injured female in the area of North Fourth Street and East St. John Street about 9:07 p.m., police said Saturday. Â Â
The woman wasn’t breathing when officers arrived, police said. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Â Â
A suspect in the killing was gone when officers got to the scene, police said. The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. Â Â
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after her family is notified. Â Â
