A woman died shortly after being pulled out of the American River on Sunday afternoon, according to the California State Parks Department. Officials said that several agencies responded to a call for a water rescue near the confluence of the north fork and middle fork of the American River near Auburn. The woman who was missing in the water was found and responders attempted medical aid but she succumbed to her injuries, California State Parks said.
