OAKLAND — Two men were shot within two hours Sunday night and early Monday in different areas of East Oakland, authorities said.

Both men were in stable condition.

The shootings are not believed to be connected at this time, authorities said.

About 12:37 a.m. Monday a  38-year-old man was wounded several times as he was outside in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue.

Police responding to gunshot detection system alerts found the man on the pavement.  He was transported from the scene by an ambulance to a hospital.

Police believe more than one shooter was involved and that they fled in a vehicle after the shooting.  A motive has not yet been determined and no arrests have been made.

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday an 18-year-old Oakland man was shot once as he sat in a parked vehicle in the 1800 block of 105th Avenue, police said.

Two other people inside the vehicle were not injured.

Police believe the shooter was in a vehicle that stopped alongside the victim’s vehicle who then fled after the shooting.

A motive is under investigation. No arrests have been announced.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrests of the suspects in the two cases.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
