ANTIOCH — Police here have arrested two suspects in connection with a Jan. 23 shooting that killed one man and wounded another, court records show.

Lonnie Decker, 53, and Steven Kelly, 61, were charged with murder and attempted murder in the killing of 41-year-old Roberto Gonzalez-Lamas and the wounding of a 59-year-old man. The shooting occurred a little before 11 p.m. Jan. 23, on Bryan Avenue in Antioch.

A U.S. Marshals task force arrested Decker, who was paroled from state prison last year, on Feb. 7 in Pioneer, according to an Antioch police news release. Kelly was arrested Monday in Pittsburg.

Both men have been charged with murder, attempted murder, and being felons in possession of a firearm, court records show. They are being held in Contra Costa County jail with a final bail determination yet to be made.

The Antioch police news release calls it a “senseless” killing and thanks community members for providing tips that led to the arrests, but doesn’t say how police ID’d both men as suspects or reveal the suspected motive.

Neither Decker nor Kelly, both Antioch residents, have yet entered a plea, according to court records.
