A man was arrested and booked for attempted murder after allegedly shooting his wife and 10-year-old son at a Victorville motel over the weekend.

Deputies were called to the Days Inn by Wyndham Victorville in the 15300 block of La Paz Drive around 11:15 p.m. Sunday.

A 33-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her neck and a 10-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his stomach were located by arriving deputies, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

Both victims were taken to a trauma center to be treated but no further details about their conditions were given.

The woman’s husband and boy’s father Christopher Bulger, 31, was identified as the suspect and arrested after being found in the area, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Investigators believe the shooting was the result of an argument between Bulger and his wife.

“As a result, the female victim was shot in the neck, the bullet traveled through the victim’s body and exited through her abdomen. The bullet continued to travel and struck the 10-year-old juvenile in the stomach as he stood in the area,” the Sherrif’s Department stated.

In addition to attempted murder, Bulger was booked on suspicion of corporal injury to a spouse, child endangerment, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and altering a firearm’s identification information.

Anyone with further information was asked to call Victorville Station at 760-241-2911 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at 760-956-5001. Those wishing to remain anonymous can leave information on the We-Tip hotline at 1-800-78CRIME (27463) or the We-Tip website.
