Around 8:30 p.m., the fireworks went off along the plaza leaving several bystanders with minor injuries, according to the Hermosa Beach Police Department. Those injured were treated at the scene.

Two teens initially believed to be responsible were detained and later released after another teen was identified as the primary suspect, police said.

Information on the teen, a South Bay resident, was not released because of their age.

“HBPD Detectives are currently working with the suspect’s family and L.A. County Juvenile Probation to ensure the suspect faces appropriate consequences for this dangerous incident,” the Hermosa Beach Police Department said on social media Monday.
