The child was found unresponsive last week and later died at UC Davis Medical Center. His cause of death was not released.

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — The mother of a Roseville 9-year-old found unresponsive and later declared dead is now facing a charge of homicide.

According to the Roseville Police Department, the investigation began Feb. 2 when first responders were called to a home on New England Drive for medical aid.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive 9-year-old boy. He was taken to UC Davis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead Feb. 5.

Roseville police say the boy’s mother, 37-year-old Kimberly Blakley, was arrested and booked Wednesday on suspicion of child abuse and homicide. Police added that the child who died was adopted and not biologically related to Blakley.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and the boy’s siblings are under protective custody.
