Pedestrian killed in Fairfield hit-and-run, police search for driver

Investigators are looking for a driver after a person was found dead on the side of a road in Fairfield overnight, according to the police department.Officials said around 1 a.m. Tuesday, a Fairfield police officer was driving on Air Base Parkway near Wylie Lane and noticed a person on the ground on the shoulder. The officer stopped to check on the person and noticed they had been hit by a vehicle. There were no other vehicles around.Officials said the incident happened in front of the Pick-n-Pull. The police department said the victim died at the scene.The traffic unit is investigating the collision and working to identify the vehicle that struck the victim, as well as the person who was driving it.Air Base Parkway was shut down for around six hours while investigators processed the scene, the police department said.The person who was killed has not been identified.Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department at 707-428-7300.This is a developing story.
