Pedestrian hit, killed by driver in Hayward

A 29-year-old driver struck and killed a pedestrian near the intersection of Tennyson Road and Lustig Court in South Hayward on Friday night.

Emergency responders pronounced the victim, a 56-year-old man, dead at the scene, Hayward police said in a news release.

The driver is cooperating with the investigation. Names of both the driver and the victim are currently being withheld until officers can notify next of kin.

This is Hayward’s fourth fatal collision so far this year.
