One dead after leading Delano police on freeway pursuit

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man is dead after a police pursuit ended in a fatal crash on Hwy 99 near Delano.

On Feb. 10, a driver is dead after crashing his vehicle following a police chase near Delano. One man failed to yield during a traffic stop around 8:16 p.m., just past the 700 block of Garces Hwy. The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup led officers on a pursuit northbound that ended at the Avenue 24 exit, according to police.

The driver ultimately lost control of the vehicle, wrecked and was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the man who was killed will be released at a later time.
