NUMU hosts ArtNow awards ceremony for high school artists

New Museum Los Gatos, aka NUMU, is hosting an awards ceremony for its “ArtNow 2024: In Transition” exhibit on Saturday, April 27, 3-6 p.m. The exhibit features works by 82 high school artists from across Santa Clara County.

NUMU is set to award over $11,000 in cash prizes, scholarships and University Art gift certificates at the ceremony. First- and second-place awards and Judge’s Recognition will be presented in each of eight artistic categories–painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, photography, digital art and video/animation–as well as a Best in Show and People’s Choice Award.

Voting for the People’s Choice Award is open through Saturday, April 27, at 3 p.m.; limit one vote per visitor per day. From 3-4 p.m on April 27, People’s Choice Award voting will be reserved for those who pre-register for the awards ceremony.

One student d will be awarded the Mike and Alyce Parsons Best in Show Scholarship. This scholarship of $5,000 will be paid directly to the college of their choice.

Spring Dance Festival

To celebrate National Dance Week, sjDANCEco is hosting its Spring Dance Festival April 27-28 at Eastridge Center, 2200 Eastridge Loop in San Jose. The free festival is also the kickoff to sjDANCEco’s 21st season.

Lara Jean Choreography and Los Gatos Ballet, both based in Los Gatos, are among more than 60 choreographers and Bay Area dance organizations that will present various styles of dance.
