No credible threat found after caller threatens violence at Ceres junior high school

Officials said no credible threat was found on Monday after a possible gun threat at a junior high school in Ceres, the police department said.The Ceres Police Department communications center received a call around noon. A man indicated he was at Cesar Chavez Junior High School and planned to commit a mass shooting.The school was immediately placed on lockdown, according to the school district. Neighboring La Rosa Elementary was also placed on a precautionary lockdown.The police department said officers searched the campus and followed all leads before determining the threat was unsubstantiated. No students or staff were harmed during the incident, the police department said.The school district said additional social-emotional supports are available at both schools that were under lockdown.The source of the threat is under investigation.Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Salinas at 209-538-5729.
