A motorcyclist was killed and his 12-year-old passenger was hospitalized following a collision with a Metro bus Friday in Van Nuys.

A motorcyclist was killed and his 12-year-old passenger was hospitalized following a collision with a Metro bus Friday in Van Nuys.

The head-on crash was reported at about 11 a.m. on Hazeltine Avenue near Bessemer Street. The man riding the the motorcycle died at the scene. Details about his identity were not immediately available.

A 12-year-old girl riding on the back of the motorcycle suffered critical injuries. Family members told NBCLA she was riding the motorcycle with her uncle. Details about what led to the crash were not immediately available.

“Metro extends its deepest sympathies to family and friends of the deceased and to the person injured,” Jose Ubaldo, of Metro, said in a statement. “Metro is working closely with the Los Angeles Police Department to investigate this incident.

We are committed to ensuring the safety of Metro’s customers and the communities we serve, in fact, it’s our highest priority.” About a dozen passengers were on the bus. One passenger suffered a minor injury. (source)

A motorcyclist was struck and killed by a Metro Rail train in Long Beach on Wednesday night.

The crash occurred around 6 p.m. Wednesday when a Metro A (Blue) Line train near the Long Beach Boulevard and Eighth Street grade crossing struck a motorcycle, according to Metro spokesman Dave Sotero.

Long Beach Police Department officers arrived at the location and attempted life-saving measures before the arrival of Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, who pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene, according to Long Beach Police Department Lt. Danielle Quinones.

“Metro extends its heartfelt condolences to the motorcyclist’s family and friends. We are working closely with the Long Beach Police Department as they investigate the cause of this incident,” Metro said in a statement. “We are committed to ensuring the safety of Metro’s customers and the communities we serve. In fact, it’s our highest priority.”

Sotero said Metro was operating shuttle buses Wednesday evening in the Transit Mall Loop area to replace peak-hour services on the A Line.

A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a Metro bus on Thursday night in Chatsworth.

A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a Metro bus on Thursday, May 8, 2024 in Chatsworth. The crash was reported around 8:54 p.m. in the 21000 block of Nordhoff Street, according to Erik Scott with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The motorcycle came into contact with the front of the bus, struck a pole and caught fire, Scott said. The body of the man riding the motorcycle was covered with a sheet not far from the bus terminal, aerial video of the scene showed.

The bus driver suffered minor injuries and appeared to be visibly shaken as she was put onto a stretcher. She was transported to a hospital in fair condition, Scott said.

Investigators claim the Metro Transit bus was making a left turn onto Southview Drive when it was hit by the motorcycle on the right front side. Police are investigating a deadly collision between a motorcyclist and Metro Transit bus.

According to a press release from D.C. Police, the crash happened Monday just after noon in the 800 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. Officers believe the bus was headed southwest on Southern Avenue. At the same time, officers say a man riding a Suzuki motorcycle was headed northbound “at a high rate of speed.”

Investigators claim the Metro Transit bus was making a left turn onto Southview Drive when it was hit by the motorcycle on the right front side. The impact of the collision caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike.

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services took the motorcyclist, later identified as 30-year-old Ronnie Lyons, to a nearby hospital for help but he died from his injuries.

14 Hurt in South L.A. Metro Bus Crash [Los Angeles, CA]

A collision in South Los Angeles involving a Metro bus and four passenger vehicles left at least 14 individuals injured on Thursday afternoon.

The Los Angeles Metro Bus crash took place on West 39th Street in Leimert Park around 3:40 p.m., disrupting traffic along Crenshaw Boulevard as emergency services rushed to the scene.

Footage from the area revealed the extent of the chaos: a minivan showed severe driver’s side damage, an SUV was flipped, a sedan bore the brunt of the impact at the front, and a cargo van was also among the tangled vehicles. The bus, carrying passengers at the time, appeared to have stopped roadside, the extent of its damage unclear.

Among the injured, three were reported to have moderate injuries, and six sustained minor injuries, all of whom were transported to a hospital. Five others chose not to seek hospital care. The injured included passengers from the bus and the cars involved. (source)

The fatal accident happened around 11:00 a.m. on Hazeltine Avenue near Bessemer Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Leos was riding his motorcycle with a 12-year-old female when they collided with a Metro G Line bus.

Leos suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 34 years old of Van Nuys, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Paramedics rushed the girl to the Valley Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition. The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Richard Leos. (source)
