Man shot in East Oakland after confrontation

OAKLAND — A  23-year-old  man was shot in East Oakland early Sunday after he got into a confrontation with some other men, authorities said.

The man was in stable condition at a hospital where he is recovering from a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

The shooting happened about 12:24 a.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of 26th Avenue, a mainly residential area.

Police said the man, an Oakland resident,  was walking outside when he was confronted by two other men, one of whom shot him.
