Man hit, killed trying to walk across Interstate 5 near Natomas

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A man is dead after he was hit by a car trying to cross Interstate 5 near Natomas.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision happend just after 3:30 a.m. A Hyundai was traveling along the freeway near Arena Boulevard when a man, 56, tried to walk across the freeway from the right-hand shoulder.

The man was hit and launched into the air before landing in the center divider area. He ultimately died from his injuries at the scene.

According to CHP, the Hyundai driver was taken to a hospital for lacerations to the face.
