Man dies inside Ceres home after being shot, police say

A man died inside a home in Ceres on Saturday morning after being shot, according to police. The Ceres Police Department said officers were responding to a reported home invasion robbery at the 2700 block of Roeding Road around 3:30 a.m. when they found a man lying with a gunshot wound to his chest in the living room. Officers and medical responders attempted lifesaving measures but the man, 63, died at the scene, police said. The man’s death is being investigated. It is unclear whether he was the same person that reported a break-in. Police have not provided any information on a possible suspect.The victim’s cousin told KCRA 3 News the victim was visiting him from Los Angeles and is an electrical engineer. He said he is married with two adult children.He also said he was asleep when he woke up to gunshots and found his cousin bleeding in the living room.
