Man accused of murder after Rio Vista police find his mother dead during welfare check

RIO VISTA, Calif. — A man was arrested on suspicion of murder Monday afternoon in Rio Vista after police found his mother dead, authorities said.

Upon arrival, officers arrested a 57-year-old man after a brief struggle. The man suffered minor injuries, according to law enforcement.

“Officers then discovered the body of a 78-year-old woman inside the residence, who was determined to be the mother of the suspect,” the release said. “The full circumstances surrounding the victim’s death are currently under investigation.”

The man was booked into Solano County Jail and faces several felony charges including murder, police said.
