A Long Beach man has been arrested in connection with the murder of another Long Beach man just days before Christmas 2023.

On Dec. 21, 2023, 28-year-old Ismael Cuevas was shot and killed in the 200 block of Eagle Street, the Long Beach Police Department said in a news release.

Another man was also shot, though he sustained a none-life-threatening injury to what police called “an extremity.”

On Thursday morning, police arrested 42-year-old Bryan Lopez in the 2800 block of Pacific Avenue connection with the shooting. He faces one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm and a probation violation, police said.

Lopez is being held by the LBPD in lieu of $3 million bail. Jail records do not indicate a scheduled court date.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Homicide Detectives Ethan Shear or Chasen Contreras at 562-570-7244.

Anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477) or lacrimestoppers.org.
