Kitchen fire damages North Auburn smokehouse

(FOX40.COM) — A kitchen fire at the Sierra Grill Smokehouse in the North Auburn area required the assistance of several neighboring fire agencies on Monday morning, according to CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit.

Crews initially received calls for a commercial fire at the popular smokehouse located at 2515 Grass Highway (Highway 49), Auburn.

As crews arrived on scene they began attacking the fire at the rear of the building while also conducting a search to ensure no on was inside.

Drone operators with CAL FIRE NEU was able to provide important information about the fire behavior and state of building to ensure the safety of fire crews on the ground.

Eventually, the fire was contained to the kitchen area and the cause of the fire is now under investigation.

The Auburn City Fire Department, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Newcastle Professional Firefighters Association and the Roseville Fire Department assisted with the call.
