Inmate dies after being found unresponsive in Sacramento County jail cell

A 45-year-old inmate has died after he was found unresponsive and alone in his cell inside the main jail, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.Officials said the inmate was found by deputies around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. He was in a section of the jail that houses inmates detoxing from drugs and other substances. Deputies looked inside a cell and noticed the unresponsive man. The deputies entered the cell and administered first aid until fire personnel responded, according to the sheriff’s office.
