Teen boy shot dead near Cudahy elementary school, second teen injured

Teen shot and killed near Cudahy school A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed near a Cudahy elementary school. It was one of several fatal shootings in Los Angeles overnight. Parents say they’re concerned about safety.LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. – A teen boy was killed and another was injured in a shooting near a Cudahy-area elementary school overnight.  The shooting happened around 12:19 a.m. in the 5000 block of Live Oak Street next to the Los Angeles River, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.  When deputies got there, they found two teenage boys suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced one of those teens dead at the scene. The second was brought to the hospital and is in stable condition, deputies said. He was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as 14-year-old Javier Pedraza Jr. Nearby, Ellen Ochoa Learning Center remains open as the investigation continues, but the front entrance will remain closed. Deputies are still searching for the suspected shooter. Anyone with information was asked to call homicide detectives at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
