SANTA YSABEL, Calif. — An 11-year-old girl was killed over the weekend in a two-vehicle crash in northeastern San Diego County, authorities said.

The collision occurred Saturday around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of southbound state Route 79 and eastbound state Route 76, California Highway Patrol Officer Jared Grieshaber said in a news release Wednesday.

A 27-year-old woman, of Escondido, was driving a 2020 Honda Accord when she stopped at the intersection of SR-76 and SR-79 and then drove out in front of an incoming 2022 Ford F-150, which hit the left side of the Honda, according to authorities.

The impact of the crash killed an 11-year-old passenger in the Honda, while the 27-year-old driver and her 16-year-old and 34-year-old passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, per CHP. The driver of the Ford, a 53-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Authorities do not believe driving under the influence was a factor in the collision.
