CATALINA, WHAT’S GOING ON THERE. YEAH. SO THIS WAS A HOUSE FIRE THAT STARTED AT AROUND 2:44 P.M. HERE ON TERRELL ROAD. AND YOU GUYS CAN SEE THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE THAT THIS FIRE LEFT HERE. THE CHAIRS EVEN A BOX OF CHRISTMAS LIGHTS THAT BELONGED TO THE PEOPLE THAT WERE IN HERE ACTUALLY, SAC METRO FIRE OFFICIALS TELL US THAT THERE WERE MULTIPLE PEOPLE INSIDE OF THIS TRIPLE S WHEN THIS FIRE FIRST BEGAN. THEY FIRST RESPONDED TO A CALL OF A SMOKE INVESTIGATION THAT WAS FOCUSED ON THE ATTIC. AND YOU GUYS CAN SEE THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO THE ROOF. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE FROM FURTHER BEHIND THAT IT SUNK FROM THE AMOUNT OF FIRE AND SMOKE THAT WAS THERE. ALL OF THAT, DUE TO THE WINDS SPREAD OUT THROUGHOUT THE HOME. AND YOU CAN JUST SEE ALL OF THE DAMAGE. THEY DO TELL US THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE DAMAGE IS FOCUSED AT THE BACK OF THE HOME, BUT ALSO IT WAS ABLE TO SPREAD AND THREATEN OTHER HOUSES AROUND IT. IF YOU TAKE A LOOK RIGHT BEHIND ME, THIS IS A DUPLEX AND THE FENCE THAT SEPARATES THIS TRIPLEX FROM THE DUPLEX IS COMPLETELY BURNED. AND FIREFIGHTERS REALLY FOCUSED TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY DID NOT, UM, THAT THIS FIRE DID NOT SPREAD DUE TO THE WINDS AND THE DRY VEGETATION TO OTHER PROPERTIES AROUND THE HOME. ACTUALLY, SAC FIRE, UH, BATTALION CHIEF PARKER IS HERE WITH US, AND HE WAS TALKING TO US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SOME OF THE CHALLENGES THAT YOU GUYS FACED WHEN PUTTING OUT THIS FIRE TODAY. THIS FIRE WAS FAIRLY COMPLEX. WE HAD THREE UNITS INSIDE THIS BUILDING, AND WE HAD A DUPLEX, TWO UNITS THREATENED DIRECTLY TO THIS SIDE. AND WE ALSO HAD A HOME THREATENED HERE. AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE’S VEGETATION ALL THE WAY AROUND THIS HOME THAT IS OVERGROWN, THAT FIRE WAS SPREADING VERY QUICKLY. THE PROBLEM WE HAVE ALSO IS AN OVERCAST. SO ONCE THIS VEGETATION STARTS GOING, YOU START GETTING FLAMES AND FIRES THAT COULD POTENTIALLY THREATEN ADDITIONAL LIVES AND PROPERTY OUTSIDE OF JUST THIS. FORTUNATELY, THE CREWS DID WHAT THEY NEEDED TO DO. THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF KNOCKING THIS THING DOWN. THANK YOU. AND YOU GUYS JUST HEARD SO THE WIND, THE HOT TEMPERATURES AND THE DRY VEGETATION IS WHAT’S HELPING THESE FIRES SPREAD SO QUICKLY. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS INJURED HERE. AND NOW CREWS ARE WORKING TO PUT OUT THE LAST OF THIS FIRE TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN’T SPREAD. BUT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE’VE SEEN THROUGHOUT THE DAY. LIKE YOU GUYS JUST MENTIONED. BUT SO FAR HERE, NO ONE WAS INJURED. PEOPLE WERE ABLE TO GET OUT SAFELY, BUT THERE IS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE HOME HERE IN CITRUS HEIGHTS. LIVE IN CITR
