Someone cleaning up a family member’s property in Strawberry made an explosive discovery on Tuesday, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.A deputy responded to the home on Highway 108 near Strawberry Road around 7:30 a.m. A person had found dynamite and other explosives on the property.The deputy determined the dynamite was unstable, so the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was requested to respond.Officials said TCSO deputies, the CCSO Bomb Squad and CalFire are at the property to lessen the threat of the unstable explosives. TCSO officials said the plan involves detonating the explosives to safely dispose of them. Residents in the area may hear several loud explosions, the sheriff’s office said.Officials remind everyone not to handle, cover or move unwanted explosives, and to contact the proper authorities.
