SAN LORENZO — Gunfire greeted a person who confronted two others who appeared to be in the middle of stealing a car, authorities said.

The person who confronted the two people “miraculously” was not injured despite the flurry of shots, according to a statement from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

It happened about 3:30 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Via Manzanas in an unincorporated part of the county. Several rounds of bullets hit the victim’s residence and hit several interior walls.

“We want to remind you of the importance of prioritizing your safety and that of your loved ones,” the sheriff’s office said in its statement. “Armed suspects usually perpetrate this type of crime. Safety should be your priority if you become aware of someone attempting to steal your vehicle from your driveway or the street in front of your home.”

The two suspects who fired both got away, the sheriff’s office said. The agency encouraged anyone who might have information on where they could be to call 510-667-3636. Anonymous tips can be left at 510-667-3622.
