FREE MOBILE APP. WELL, NOW TO WHAT’S BECOMING A POPULAR TREND AMONG PARENTS. THEY’RE CALLED MOMMY MAKEOVER. THE TRANSFORMATION CONSISTS OF SEVERAL PROCEDURES, INCLUDING A TUMMY TUCK, BREAST LIFT, AND A BRAZILIAN — LIFT. YEAH, WHILE THESE SURGERIES ARE FAIRLY SAFE WHEN IT COMES TO RECOVERY AND THE AFTERCARE TREATMENT, THAT’S WHERE THIS MAKEOVER COULD BE A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. YOU NEVER THINK IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU. I TELL PEOPLE ALL THE TIME, I DIDN’T THINK IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME. RACELAND PRICE RECOUNTS THE DAYS AFTER HER MOMMY MAKEOVER BACK IN 2023, SOMETHING SHE STILL THINKS ABOUT EVERY SINGLE DAY. I HAD THE TUMMY TUCK, I HAD A BBL. I HAD LIPO 360, I HAD LIPO OF THE ARMS AND THE THIGHS. PRICE GOT EVERYTHING DONE AT ONE TIME FROM A DOCTOR IN MIAMI. SHE FELT PRETTY GOOD AFTER THE SURGERY, BUT HER BODY STARTED TO CHANGE FOR THE WORSE PRICE STARTED FEELING LIGHTHEADED, COULDN’T EAT, DRINK OR STAND FOR EVEN FIVE MINUTES WITHOUT PASSING OUT. I DROVE MYSELF TO THE HOSPITAL AND ONCE I GOT THERE, THEY WAS JUST LIKE THE DOCTORS EVERYWHERE. PRICE WAS GOING THROUGH SEPTIC SHOCK. SHE HAD SEVERAL INFECTIONS. CYSTS DEVELOP OVER HER BUTTOCKS AREA AND WAS LEAKING. HER STOMACH FILLED WITH FLUID FROM HER TUMMY TUCK. THE IMAGES SO DISTURBING WE CAN’T EVEN SHOW YOU. DO YOU KNOW? OR DID DOCTORS TELL YOU HOW CLOSE YOU POSSIBLY CAME TO DYING? WELL, SHE TOLD ME IF I WOULD HAVE WAITED ONE MORE DAY, I WOULD HAVE DIED. SO WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? DOCTORS SAY PRICE’S BIGGEST MISTAKE NOT LETTING HER BODY FULLY HEAL FOR A MOMMY MAKEOVER, ESPECIALLY IF THEY’RE GETTING LIPOSUCTION AND THEY’RE GETTING A TUMMY TUCK AND POSSIBLY A FAT TRANSFER TO THEIR BUTTOCKS OR HIPS. IT USUALLY TAKES ABOUT EIGHT WEEKS. DOCTOR COURTNEY WASHINGTON SAYS SHE’S SEEN THE LACK OF AFTERCARE TREATMENT FROM WOMEN WHO ARE GETTING THESE PROCEDURES, SOMETIMES DUE TO THE LACK OF EDUCATING THEMSELVES ON THE NEXT STEPS WITHOUT HAVING THAT AFTERCARE OR THAT SURGEON THAT CAN ATTEND TO THEIR NEEDS. WHERE SEEING THEM IN THE HOSPITAL, ADMITTING THEM, ACTUALLY, THEY’RE HAVING TO GET OTHER SURGICAL PROCEDURES TO GO AND CLEAN OUT THE AREA THAT MAY BE INFECTED AFTER THEY’VE GOTTEN THEIR TUMMY TUCK. RESEARCH SHOWS THE SURGERIES THEMSELVES ARE SAFE WITH LOW DEATH RATES, BUT DATA FROM THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ACCREDITATION FOR AMBULATORY SURGICAL FACILITIES SHOWS THE MAJORITY OF DEATHS COME FROM BLOOD CLOTS, WHICH CAN BE TREATED IF THE PATIENT IS UNDER THE RIGHT CARE AFTER SURGERY. DOCTOR WASHINGTON SAYS IF YOU’RE PLANNING ON HAVING A MOMMY MAKEOVER, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEONE THAT CAN TAKE CARE OF YOU LIKE A NURSE OR A TRUSTED FAMILY MEMBER. THIS ISN’T AN OVERNIGHT TRANSFORMATION LIKE SOCIAL MEDIA PORTRAYS IT TO BE. FOR PRICE. SHE LOVES FASHION AND THE CELEBRITY WORLD, AND SHE SAYS IT HAD A MAJOR INFLUENCE ON HER GOING UNDER THE KNIFE. THE DECISION COSTLY. HOW MUCH DID YOU SPEND ON THE ORIGINAL SURGERY? SO I SPENT ABOUT 17 TO $18,000. HOW MUCH ADDITIONALLY DID YOU HAVE TO SPEND WHEN IT CAME TO YOUR RECOVERY OF GOING TO THE HOSPITAL IN AND OUT OF THE E.R.? HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK YOU CAN ESTIMATE? HOW MUCH YOU SPENT? ABOUT 15,000. ONCE YOU OPEN THAT DOOR OF THAT SURGERY, GO IN THERE. THERE’S NO TURNING BACK. SOME PEOPLE DON’T COME BACK. SOME PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES. AND I WAS ONE THAT ALMOST LOST MY LIFE. AND DOCTOR WASHINGTON ALSO SAYS IF HE DECIDES TO GET THE PROCEDURE, CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR TO MAKE SURE YOU’RE IN GOOD HEALTH BEFORE YOU MAKE THAT DECISION. A GREAT STORY DARRYL AND YOUR MEDICAL HISTORY ALSO A MAJOR FACTOR WHEN IT COMES TO HO

It’s become a popular trend among parents: mommy makeovers. The transformation consists of several procedures, including a tummy tuck, breast lift, and a Brazilian butt lift. While these surgeries are fairly safe, when it comes to recovery and aftercare treatment, that’s where this makeover could be a matter of life and death.Railyn Price decided to get a mommy makeover in Miami. “I had the tummy tuck, I had a BBL, I had lipo 360, lipo of the arms, and the thighs,” said Price. In fact, Price felt pretty good after the surgery, but her body started to change for the worse. She felt lightheaded and couldn’t eat, drink, or stand for even five minutes without passing out. Little did she know she was going through septic shock. Price had several infections, cysts developed over her buttocks area, and she was leaking. Her stomach filled with fluid from her tummy tuck.Doctors say Price’s biggest mistake was not letting her body fully heal. “For a mommy makeover, especially if they’re getting liposuction, and they’re getting a tummy tuck, and possibly a fat transfer to their buttocks, or hips. I usually takes about eight weeks,” said Dr. Courtney Washington, a clinical physician. Washington also said she’s seeing the lack of aftercare treatment from women who are getting these procedures. Sometimes due to the lack of educating themselves on the next steps. “Without having that aftercare, or that surgeon that attend to their needs, we’re seeing them, admitting them, getting other procedures to go in, and clean out the area, they may be infected after they’ve gotten her tummy tuck,” said Washington.Research shows the surgeries themselves are safe with low death rates. Data from the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities shows the majority of deaths come from blood clots, which can be treated if the patient is under the right care after surgery. Washington says if you’re planning on having a mommy makeover, make sure you have someone that can take care of you, like a nurse, or trusted family member. Washington also says if you decide to get the procedure, contact your doctor to make sure you’re in good health before you make the decision. Your medical history is also a major factor when it comes to how your body will react in the aftercare and recovery process.
