Deadly accident under investigation along Jackson Road in Rancho Murieta

According to Caltrans, the collision is impacting eastbound traffic at Murieta Parkway.

RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. — A deadly accident in Rancho Murieta is under investigation along Jackson Road Tuesday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash was a three-car collision and was reported just before 4:30 p.m. on Jackson Road, west of Murieta Parkway. One man died in the crash. 

Police said a man was driving an Acura RDX in the westbound lane approaching a Toyota Corolla in the eastbound lane. Meanwhile, another driver in a Toyota Tacoma was in the eastbound lane behind the Corolla.

The Acura driver veered to the left and collided with the Corolla. The car then deflected off the Corolla and hit the Tacoma head-on.

The Acura driver had fatal injuries while the other two drivers had minor to moderate injuries.

Police said alcohol impairment could have played a factor in the crash.
