THIS IS KCRA THREE. WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS AND THAT BREAKING NEWS WE’RE FOLLOWING RIGHT NOW. A FIRE BURNING IN THE VACAVILLE AREA. IT WAS PUTTING UP DARK SMOKE ABOUT A HALF HOUR AGO. YOU CAN SEE THAT IN THIS TIME LAPSE. THANK YOU FOR JOINING US HERE AT FIVE. I’M ANDREA FLORES AND I’M EDIE LAMBERT. LET’S TAKE YOU STRAIGHT NOW TO LIVECOPTER3 WHICH IS OVERHEAD. SO THESE ARE LIVE PICTURES THAT YOU’RE LOOKING AT RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN SEE THIS FIRE IS STILL PUTTING UP SOME SMOKE. WE HAVE NOW LEARNED THAT THIS IS ON THE CALIFORNIA STATE PRISON. SOLANO PROPERTY. SO THE PRISON PROPERTY ITSELF AND STILL PRETTY HAZY DOWN THERE. THIS IS JUST OFF OF PEABODY ROAD. UH, IT’S PRETTY WARM THIS AFTERNOON, AS I’M SURE YOU KNOW, TEMPERATURES THERE IN THE VACAVILLE AREA IN THE MID 90S. WE CHECKED IN WITH OUR METEOROLOGIST, HEATHER WALDMAN. SHE SAYS IT’S NOT SUPER WINDY, BUT WE DO HAVE A BREEZE THERE AT ABOUT 15MPH, WHERE WE ARE STARTING TO SEE SOME OF THAT DARKER SMOKE IS WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE FIRE MAKING ITS WAY INTO SOME OF THAT THICKER VEGETATION. SOME OF THE TREES THERE, AND DENSER BRUSH. UH, WE DON’T REALLY HAVE A GAUGE FROM THIS SHOT AS TO HOW CLOSE THIS FIRE MAY BE BURNING TO ANY STRUCTURES ON THE PROPERTY, AND WHETHER THIS MAY BE AFFECTING ANY INMATE, UH, INMATES BEING HELD THERE OR ANY SECURITY ISSUES FOR THE PRISON. SO WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TO GATHER INFORMATION THERE. BUT AGAIN, THIS IS SOUTH OF DOWNTOWN VACAVILLE, AND THIS IS STILL A VERY ACTIVE FIRE ON PRISON PROPERTY. GO AHEAD. AND WE SHOULD ADD THAT WE JUST GOT THIS INFORMATION INTO OUR NEWSROOM. VACAVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAYS THAT THEY ARE ASSISTING IN THIS FIGHT HERE ON THE PRISON PROPERTY. THEY ARE PROVIDING AID IN THE FORM OF A FEW ENGINES AND A BATTALION CHIEF AT THIS POINT. SO AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, STILL SOME ACTIVE FLAMES HERE ON THE STATE PRISON GROUNDS. AS WE GET A CLOSER VIEW HERE. WE SAW A LOT OF THAT DARK SMOKE ABOUT A HALF HOUR AGO. BUT YEAH, YOU CAN SEE IT’S SMOLDERING THERE WITH SOME FLAMES. UH, AS THEY CONTINUE TO TRY AND PUT THE FLAMES OUT. BUT AGAIN, NO INFORMATION AT THIS POINT ABOUT ANY IMPACTS TO PRISONERS OR ANY GUARDS OR OTHER STAFF THERE ON THE GROUNDS. YEAH, IT’S REALLY HARD TO TELL WHAT THAT IS THAT’S ON FIRE IN THAT AREA. YOU CAN SEE SOME KIND OF A LOOKS LIKE SORT OF A SUPPORT STRUCTURE ON ONE SIDE OF IT, BUT IT’S JUST, UM, A LITTLE HARD TO MAKE OUT WHAT IT IS THAT’S BURNING. BUT WE’VE GOT DEFINITELY TWO, UM, AREAS WHERE WE’RE SEEING VERY ACTIVE FLAMES AND SOME KIND OF FUEL IN EACH OF THOSE AREAS THAT FIRE CREWS ARE DEALING WITH. SO AGAIN, WE ARE STILL GATHERING INFORMATION ON THIS. AND, UH, WE’LL BE CHECKING IN WITH OUR LIVE COPTER CREW AS WELL. THEY MAY HAVE A BETTER
