A couple was found dead in a home in San Bernardino County after an apparent murder-suicide, law enforcement officials said.

According to a release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s station were dispatched to a home in the 26900 block of Lakeview Drive in the community of Helendale, located 15 miles north of Victorville and about 23 miles southwest of Barstow, just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The deputies were dispatched on a medical aid call, with the reporting party indicating that a man and woman could possibly be deceased inside the home, SBSD said.

Upon arriving, deputies located the victims suffering from “apparent gunshot wounds” and pronounced them dead at the scene, law enforcement officials confirmed.

They were identified as Helendale residents Aaron Fulkerson, 44, and his wife Ondrea Fulkerson, 47.

“Initial investigation indicates Aaron shot Ondrea and then shot himself,” the sheriff’s department said.

The couple’s official cause and manner of death are pending autopsy.

Detectives with the sheriff department’s Specialized Investigations Division are handling the investigation.
