The California Highway Patrol is investigating two fatal incidents that they said happened less than an hour apart on Wednesday, one of them involving a pedestrian.

Officers responded to the first incident about 9:20 p.m. in the area of Lewelling Boulevard and Embers Way in San Leandro. A pedestrian was in the roadway when they arrived and appeared to have been hit by a vehicle, according to initial reports confirmed by the CHP.

Authorities did not have information on that person. Alameda County Coroner’s deputies responded to that scene to remove the body.

The other fatality happened in the area of Via Bellita and Via Arroyo in San Lorenzo about 10 p.m., according to the CHP. In that crash, a gray Nissan wound up on its roof. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office also responded to that scene.

No other information on either incident was available early Thursday.
