LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. – Authorities have identified a man killed in a shooting at a shopping mall in Cerritos Friday afternoon.

SkyFOX was over the scene at the Los Cerritos Center around 4:30 p.m. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol was involved in the shooting.

The CHP said Friday that the shooting stemmed from a police chase, however on Saturday, CHP said a retail crime task force was conducting an operation at the mall when the shooting happened.  Three suspects were “identified as being involved in criminal activity,” according to authorities.

One of those suspects, identified as 46-year-old Mauricio Sandoval, ran through the parking lot and allegedly pulled out a gun. That’s when officers shot him. Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department treated Sandoval at the scene and brought him to the hospital, where he later died.

Officers said they found a gun at the scene.

The other two suspects — a Hispanic man and woman — ran off and drove away, before being arrested in the city of Pico Rivera, officers said.

Viewers on social media reported seeing shoppers running out of the mall. No one else, including officers, was reportedly injured.
