Bicyclist critically injured following crash in Ceres

A bicyclist was taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition following a crash with a vehicle in Ceres on Wednesday, according to the police department.The collision happened just after 3 p.m. on Mitchell Road, north of Hatch Road.Officials said the 59-year-old man riding the bike had major injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.The police department said the bicyclist was traveling eastbound across Mitchell Road at Adrien Way over the center median when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Mitchell.Officials said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.Mitchell Road was closed for several hours in the area as officers processed the crash scene.The investigation into the crash is ongoing.Anyone who witnessed the collision is encouraged to contact Officer Aaron Pinon at 209-538-5678 or by email at aaron.pinon@ci.ceres.ca.us.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app.
