A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection to two “smash-and-grab” robberies at one south Sacramento jewelry store, according to the sheriff’s office.The thieves got away with over a quarter of a million dollars worth of jewelry.Officials said a group of suspects first hit the business on Christmas Eve last year. Seven people entered the store with hammers and other blunt objects during business hours, breaking display cases. Customers and employees hid in a back room while fearing for their safety, the sheriff’s office said.Two suspects robbed that store again on Feb. 13. They once again entered during business hours and smashed the display cases, grabbing jewelry.The sheriff’s office said around $280,000 worth of jewelry was stolen between the two instances. On Thursday, detectives arrested 19-year-old Julian Lomeli of Stockton in connection to both of the robberies. Detectives are still investigating both robberies and searching for other suspects.
