31-Year-Old Man Dies in DUI Related Crash in Oakley

A 31-year-old man died in a April 29 crash in the City of Oakley according to the Oakley Police Department.

According to Oakley Police, on April 29, 2024 at 12:29AM a Contra Costa County Fire Engine crew came upon a solo vehicle collision that had just occurred at south bound Bethel Island Road and East Cypress Road.

The Oakley Police Department was immediately called to the scene. The driver, and solo occupant, of the vehicle was extracted from the vehicle and immediate life saving measures (CPR) were taken. It was discovered the driver (Victor Alfonso, 31, Oakley) had been drinking alcoholic beverages and he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Further investigation revealed Alfonso lost control of his vehicle at a high rate of speed and the vehicle went up onto a raised center median. The vehicle struck a light pole while sliding sideways across the center median causing major damage to the drivers side of the vehicle.

Alfonso was transported to Sutter Delta Hospital via AMR ambulance where he was pronounced deceased. Alfonso’s family members have been notified.
