1 dead, 1 injured in shooting near school in Cudahy

One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting early Monday near a school in Cudahy.

Both victims, described by authorities only as male juveniles, were found at about 12:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of Live Oak Street near the Ellen Ochoa Learning Center in the community about 10 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

One person died at the scene. The second was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

No arrests were reported early Monday. Details about their identities were not immediately available.

Officers also responded to a deadly shooting Sunday night near Vista Middle School and Noble Avenue Elementary School in Panorama City. A 17-year-old boy was killed and a 16-year-old boy was injured in the shooting.

In a post on X, LAUSD Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho called the shooting “unacceptable carnage.”

No arrests were reported in the shooting.
