(FOX40.COM) — A Roseville mother and father were arrested on Wednesday as alleged suspects in the death of their adopted son after he was found unresponsive and later died at the hospital, according to the Roseville Police Department.

Police said officers and fire personnel responded to a medical aid call on New England Drive on Feb. 2, where they located an unresponsive 9-year-old boy.

Despite extensive efforts, police said the child didn’t recover and died three days later at UC Davis Medical Center.

After the child’s death, police arrested the boy’s 37-year-old mother and father on Wednesday, booking both into Placer County Jail for charges related to child abuse and homicide.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and all siblings are currently under protective custody.
