Room & Board Crib Mattress Recall
In August 2023, Restwell Mattress Co. issued a recall for “Room & Board Natural Organic Latex and Spring Crib Mattresses” for failing to comply with federal safety standards (e.g., failing the firmness tests and missing the required warnings and labels), posing suffocation risks to babies. No injuries have been reported.
The following two model numbers were included in the recall: Model no. 847564 – Natural Organic Latex and Spring Crib, and Model No. 925869 – Natural Organic Latex Crib. The crib mattresses are 52 inches long and 28 inches wide, have a white top and gray sides with “Room & Board” embroidered on one end with the model name underneath.

Pottery Barn Kids Penny Convertible Crib Recall
In July of 2023, Pottery Barn Kids of San Francisco, CA issued a recall for about 310 “Pottery Barn Kids Penny Convertible Cribs” due to the cribs’ end panel becoming loose, exposing sharp edges and posing a hazard to children.
The firm has received two reports of the end panels separating from the crib, but fortunately no injuries have been reported.
The recall involves cribs sold with model number (SKU) 2850473 on the underside of the crib. The crib, made from radiata pine, can convert to a toddler bed and is French white with scalloped details. The cribs were manufactured in Indonesia and sold online at www.potterybarnkids.com from September 2022, through April 2023, for about $900.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Pottery Barn Kids for a repair or a full refund. The firm is contacting all known purchasers. Meiling Hou Baby Crib Bumper Recall
In March 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of Meiling Hou’s crib bumpers due to a violation of the federal crib bumper ban. Approximately, 125 units were sold in the United States. Infants can suffocate if they roll or move on the crib bumper in a position that obstructs breathing.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled crib bumpers and contact Meiling Hou for a full refund. Consumers who purchased the crib bumpers will be asked to cut the tie strings of the crib bumper and send the recalling firm a photo of the destroyed product at houmeiling111@outlook.com. Upon receipt of the photo, consumers will be issued a full refund of the purchase price.

Crate and Barrel Crib Recall
In 2022 Crate and Barrel recalled one of its cribs after reports of mattress support pins not fitting correctly or falling out.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall involves Thornhill Dark Brown and Natural Baby Cribs. The cribs were sold online at www.crateandbarrel.com from September 2021 through October 2022.
The recalled cribs have a dark brown wash finish and gold-capped feet. The crib’s model number is 304-903 and is located on the mattress support board. Fisher Price 4-in-1 Rock ‘n Glide Soothers Recall
Between April 2019 and February 2020, children’s product manufacturer Fisher-Price and the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recalls of about 175,000 Fisher-Price 4-in-1 Rock ‘n Glide Soothers and 2-in-1 Soothe ‘n Play Gliders after four infants were suffocated to death in the 4-in-1 Rock ‘n Glide Soother.
The infants were reportedly placed on their backs unrestrained in the product and later found on their stomachs. The fatalities involved a 4-month-old from Missouri, a 2-month-old from Nevada, a 2-month-old from Michigan, and an 11-week-old from Colorado.
There have been no deaths with the 2-in-1 Soothe ‘n Play Gliders, but that product was recalled as well due to its similar design and risk. Approximately 120,000 4-in-1 Rock ‘n Glide Soothers and 55,000 2-in-1 Soothe ‘n Play Gliders were sold at juvenile product stores and mass merchandisers nationwide and online, including Walmart and Target stores and Amazon.com.
The 4-in-1 Rock ‘n Glide Soothers were sold from January 2014, through December 2020, for about $108. The 2-in-1 Soothe ‘n Play Gliders were sold from November 2018, through May 2021, for about $125.
Consumers who own these soothers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Fisher-Price for a refund. DaVinci Crib Recall
In 2015 nearly 12,000 DaVinci brand cribs were recalled due to mattress support brackets breaking and detaching. A metal bracket that connects the mattress support to the crib can break, creating an uneven sleeping surface or a gap. If this occurs, a baby can become entrapped in the crib, fall, or suffer lacerations from the broken metal bracket.
About 6,000 affected DaVinci brand cribs were recalled in 2015 (in addition, 13 were sold in Canada). Bexco, the parent company of DaVinci, later recalled an additional 11,600 Bexco cribs in July 2015.
The recall included DaVinci brand full-size cribs including the Reagan crib (model #M2801), the Emily crib, (model #M4791), the Jamie crib (model #M7301), and the Jenny Lind crib (model #M7391) manufactured from May 2012 through December 2012. The model number, serial number, and manufacture date are printed on a label affixed to the bottom right-hand side panel of the crib.
Rockland Furniture Round Cribs Recall
In 2013 Nan Far Woodworking recalled their Rockland Furniture Round Cribs due to the risk of entrapment, suffocation, and fall hazards. These cribs were sold exclusively at JCPenney.
The crib’s drop-side rails can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail. When this happens, the drop-side rail can fall out of position and create a space where an infant or toddler can become wedged or entrapped, posing a risk of strangulation or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. In addition, drop-side-related incidents can also occur due to incorrect assembly and age-related wear and tear.
Approximately 3,900 of the Rockland Furniture Round Cribs were sold in America.
Simplicity and Graco Cribs Recall
In April 2010, the US government recalled hundreds of thousands of Simplicity and Graco cribs, warning that babies could suffocate or strangle in them.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the Simplicity recall was linked to at least one death and involved thousands of cribs, possibly hundreds of thousands, though many had previously been recalled for other defects. The agency said about 217,000 Graco-branded cribs sold between February 2007 and March 2010 as well as an untold number of Simplicity cribs, whose manufacturer is no longer in business.
If you own one of these affected models, stop using it immediately, the CPSC says. The Simplicity cribs’ mattress-support frame can bend or detach, causing part of the mattress to collapse. In 2008, a one-year-old suffocated after getting trapped between the crib mattress and the crib frame, the CPSC says.

Stork Craft Crib Recall
In 2009 American and Canadian government safety regulators are recalling more than 2.1 million drop-side cribs made by B.C.-based Stork Craft Manufacturing. This was the largest crib recall in history.
The joint recall by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada involves 1.2 million cribs in the United States — the biggest crib recall in U.S. history — and 968,800 in Canada. The products were made between January 1993 and October 2009. Nearly 150,000 of the cribs on recall carry the Fisher-Price logo and were manufactured between October 1997 and December 2004.
The CPSC, Health Canada, and Stork Craft are aware of 110 incidents in which the drop sides of cribs have detached — 67 in the U.S. and 43 in Canada. They’re also aware of four suffocations: a seven-month-old in Gouverneur, N.Y.; a seven-month-old in New Iberia, La.; a six-month-old in Summersville, W.Va.; and a nine-month-old in Bronx, N.Y. There are also 15 reports of babies being trapped but surviving, 12 in the U.S. and three in Canada.

Jardine Crib Recall
In 2008 the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notified consumers that Jardine recalled 3 models of cribs because the wooden crib slats and spindles can break, creating a gap, which can pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants. The cribs were sold nationwide from January 2002 through January 2009.
The 3 recalled models are the Dark Pine Olympia Lifetime Crib (Model DA715BC) sold between February 2004 and January 2007, the Antique Walnut Capri Single Crib (Model 0108L00) sold between July 2006 and November 2007, and the White Capri Lifetime Crib (Model 0308C00) sold between December 2005 and November 2007.
The CPSC has received 19 additional incidents of crib slats breaking. In nine of these incidents, consumers reported that their infant or toddler broke the slat while in the crib. In addition, a 22-month-old child fell through the gap between the crib slats when a slat broke. No injuries have been reported.
Delta Crib Recall
In 2008 Delta recalled almost 1.6 million cribs with drop sides because of two different defects that can cause a baby to become entrapped between the mattress and the drop side. The cribs were sold from 1995 to 2007.
These cribs resulted in the death of two 8-month-old babies in separate incidents. The larger of the recalls, including 985,000 cribs, involve missing safety pegs that allow the crib locks to disengage when the drop side is lowered below the peg hole. According to the CPSC, in May 2007 an 8-month-old girl from Bryan, Texas, died because the safety pegs on her crib were missing. The crib’s side detached, leaving a gap in which she got trapped and suffocated. The CPSC has also gotten reports of two entrapments and nine disengagements in cribs with missing safety pegs.
A second death prompted the recall of 600,000 cribs. In that incident, in July 2008, an 8-month-old boy in Tallahassee, Fla., suffocated after a spring-loaded safety peg failed to allow the side of his crib to detach. The CPSC has gotten reports of another entrapment as well as one incident in which the drop side detached. The hazard with these cribs is that the spring pegs in the base of each leg of the crib can be pushed back into the lower track, becoming nonfunctional. This can cause the drop side to detach from the crib and create a gap that can entrap an infant or toddler. Taken together, this was the largest crib recall in history at the time.
