Stacy Thumsuden, Esq. is an attorney at J&Y Law whose legal career is built upon a unique combination of healthcare and litigation experience. Licensed in California since 2022, she focuses on elder abuse, nursing home negligence, medical malpractice, and other complex injury matters.
Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Thumsuden spent years working as an emergency room nurse for several major healthcare systems in San Diego. Her experience on the front lines of healthcare gave her firsthand exposure to the challenges patients and families face during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. While working as a nurse, she discovered a passion for patient advocacy, ultimately leading her to pursue a legal career.
Ms. Thumsuden was accepted to California Western School of Law while continuing to work as a nurse. She graduated in 2022 and passed the California Bar that same year.
While in law school, Ms. Thumsuden clerked for a medical malpractice defense firm and later continued her work there as an attorney after passing the bar. This experience provided her with an inside perspective on how healthcare providers, hospitals, insurers, and long-term care facilities evaluate and defend claims. After several years on the defense side, she transitioned to plaintiff-side litigation to focus on representing injured patients and families directly.
At J&Y Law, Ms. Thumsuden combines her medical knowledge and legal training to advocate for individuals harmed by negligence. She is particularly passionate about cases involving elder abuse and nursing home neglect, where she believes accountability can improve both individual outcomes and broader standards of care.
Known for her ability to explain complex medical and legal issues in clear, relatable terms, Ms. Thumsuden views every case as a story built through evidence, facts, and human experiences. She believes successful advocacy requires not only strong legal analysis, but also a deep understanding of the people whose lives have been affected.
Outside the office, Ms. Thumsuden enjoys spending time at the beach and taking trips to Disneyland with her family.
