Westside Crash in Palms Neighborhood Leaves 2 Hospitalized
LOS ANGELES, CA – Two people were hospitalized Sunday night after a two-vehicle collision in the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles left one driver trapped inside a wrecked vehicle, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The crash was reported at 8:34 p.m. at Tilden Avenue and National Boulevard, southeast of the interchange of the 405 and 10 freeways, LAFD spokesman Jamie Stewart said. Firefighters used hydraulic tools — commonly known as the Jaws of Life — to cut one patient free from the wreckage. The victim was successfully extricated, and both patients were treated at the scene before being transported to area hospitals by ambulance.
No information was immediately available on the genders, ages, or conditions of the two patients. Officials had not released a cause for the collision, and the incident remained under active investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, which managed traffic control at the scene.
Video from the scene showed firefighters, paramedics, and law enforcement personnel working amid the heavily damaged vehicles as debris was scattered across the roadway.
