Jose Lucero Isidoro Tragically Killed on 10 Freeway
A 25-year-old man is dead after a violent three-vehicle collision on the eastbound 10 Freeway in West Covina in the early hours of Tuesday morning — a crash that left one vehicle crushed and shut down all eastbound lanes for more than three hours.
Jose Lucero Isidoro was identified as the victim by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jose Lucero Isidoro’s 10 Freeway Accident
The crash was reported at 3:13 a.m. Monday on the eastbound San Bernardino Freeway just west of the Grand Avenue off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision involved two sedans and a utility truck. A witness told the CHP that one of the vehicles was crushed.
News video showed massive damage to a white sedan in the middle lanes and the utility truck crushing the back of a dark Tesla. The images made clear this was not a minor fender-bender — the force of impact left at least one vehicle unrecognizable.
The collision triggered an immediate and wide-scale CHP response. All eastbound lanes were stopped at 3:20 a.m. and the CHP requested Caltrans to set up barricades, closing the lanes for the investigation and cleanup. The HOV lane was reopened to traffic at around 4:30 a.m., and the roadway was fully cleared at 6:31 a.m. — more than three hours after the crash was first reported.
For anyone who drives the 10 through the San Gabriel Valley in the pre-dawn hours, this stretch near Grand Avenue is well-traveled, often by commuters, delivery drivers, and overnight workers. A 3 a.m. crash at freeway speeds, in the middle lanes, with a utility truck involved, leaves little margin for survival.
