[02-24-2026] Los Angeles County – Jorge Paz Molina Identified as Victim in Fatal Pico-Union Hit-and-Run
Los Angeles, California – Los Angeles County officials have identified Jorge Paz Molina, a 60-year-old pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run collision late last year in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the fatal crash occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. on December 6 near the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Malvern Avenue. Molina was struck by a silver four-door Chrysler 300 sedan that was traveling eastbound at the time of the incident.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the collision was reported, but Jorge Paz Molina was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the driver failed to stop after hitting Molina and instead fled the area. The suspect has been described as a man between 50 and 60 years old who was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and glasses.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle — a silver Chrysler 300 — may have a non-working driver’s side fog light and darker paint on the driver’s side door, which could help identify the vehicle involved.
Detectives with the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division have since released surveillance images of both the suspect and the vehicle believed to be connected to the crash. Officials are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has information about the vehicle or driver to come forward.
A reward of up to $50,000 is currently being offered for information that leads to the identity, arrest, and conviction of the individual responsible for the fatal hit-and-run.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Central Division Investigator David Chung at 213-486-0760. Is It Possible to Claim Compensation After a Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run?
Yes — it is possible to claim compensation after a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run. While these tragic incidents often leave families with unanswered questions, California law allows certain surviving family members to pursue a wrongful death claim against the responsible party.
Even if the at-fault driver initially flees the scene, an experienced hit and run accident attorney can work with investigators to identify the suspect and build a case on your behalf. In many cases, compensation may still be available through uninsured motorist (UM) coverage or other applicable insurance policies if the driver is not immediately located.
A qualified Los Angeles pedestrian accident lawyer can help surviving loved ones evaluate their legal options and determine whether they are eligible to file a wrongful death claim. These claims may seek financial recovery for funeral expenses, medical bills, lost income, and the emotional impact caused by the sudden loss of a loved one.
Working with a knowledgeable Los Angeles wrongful death attorney is often a critical step in navigating the legal process and ensuring that your family’s rights are protected throughout the investigation and claims process.
