Santa Clarita, California – A late-night crash in Santa Clarita allegedly caused by an impaired teenage driver left two people dead and their daughter in critical condition, officials reported Wednesday. 

The collision happened around 11:15 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Newhall Ranch Road and Bouquet Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities said the impact was severe and resulted in the deaths of a married couple at the scene, while their daughter suffered life-threatening injuries. 

Based on preliminary findings, investigators believe a suspected drunk driver hit the family’s vehicle. The driver was identified as a 17-year-old male who was taken into custody on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. His identity has not been released because he is a minor. 

Traffic investigators continue to review evidence gathered from the scene. The case is expected to be submitted to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for potential charges.
