Motorcyclist hospitalized after crash with Tesla on 22 Freeway

GARDEN GROVE, CA – A motorcyclist was taken to a hospital Sunday morning after a crash with a Tesla on the westbound Garden Grove Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported at about 9:30 a.m. Aug. 30 near Valley View Street on the Garden Grove Freeway, which is also designated State Route 22. Reports identified the other vehicle as a white Tesla.

Paramedics transported the motorcyclist to a hospital. The rider’s name and medical condition were not immediately available. The report did not identify the Tesla’s driver or say whether anyone in that vehicle was injured.

Motorcycle Accident Causes Freeway Blockage

CHP closed the first and second westbound lanes at about 9:30 a.m. while emergency crews worked at the scene. The agency dispatched tow trucks for both the motorcycle and the Tesla at 9:44 a.m. The public account did not state when the lanes reopened.

The towing request indicates that both vehicles remained at the collision site long enough to require removal. The report did not describe their damage or final positions. It also did not say whether debris or spilled fluids affected additional lanes.
