Motorcyclist Dies After San Jose Audi Collision

SAN JOSE, CA – A motorcyclist died after colliding with an Audi SUV at Saratoga and Latimer avenues in San Jose, police said. The rider initially survived the Sept. 10 crash with major injuries but died two days later, according to the department’s official collision summary.

Police received the crash report at about 7:33 p.m. Officers determined that an adult woman driving a white 2021 Audi Q5 was traveling south on Saratoga Avenue and attempting a left turn onto eastbound Latimer Avenue.

An adult woman riding a white 2025 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling north on Saratoga Avenue. The motorcycle and SUV collided in the intersection as the Audi driver made the turn, the department’s preliminary account said.

San Jose Rider Dies After Hospitalization

Paramedics took the motorcyclist to a hospital with major injuries. Police said her condition was later stabilized, but investigators learned Sept. 13 that she had died. The department said the death occurred Sept. 12.

The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner was expected to release the rider’s identity after confirming it and notifying her family. Police did not publish her age or provide additional details about the medical course between the collision and her death.

The Audi driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The public advisory did not report an arrest or citation and did not state which driver had the right of way. It also did not announce a finding about speed, distraction, alcohol or drugs.

The department described the motorcycle as striking the Audi while the SUV was turning, but that preliminary wording did not resolve the right-of-way question or establish fault. Detectives continued evaluating the movements of both vehicles through the intersection.

San Jose Recorded 36th Traffic Death

The motorcyclist’s death was the city’s 36th traffic fatality in 2026, according to the Police Department’s running count. A weekend traffic update also described it as San Jose’s second newly reported road death that weekend, following a separate fatal pedestrian collision.

The department assigned the motorcycle case advisory number 26-253-0695. Its traffic detectives continued to investigate how the Audi’s left turn and the motorcycle’s northbound path converged at the intersection.
