[02-12-2026] Sacramento County – I-80 Collision and Car Fire Snarls Traffic
Orangevale, California – Traffic along Interstate 80 in Sacramento County experienced major slowdowns Thursday morning following a crash that led to a vehicle fire near the Orangevale area.
According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 7:35 a.m. on the westbound side of I-80, just past Greenback Lane near Foothill Farms. The crash triggered significant congestion across the corridor.
Authorities issued a SigAlert due to anticipated lane closures and extended delays. The alert was lifted around 8:19 a.m., but as of approximately 8:25 a.m., traffic backups were still stretching north toward Roseville, based on live traffic maps.
Footage from the location showed at least one car fully ablaze following the collision.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash, the total number of vehicles involved, and whether anyone was hurt. CHP logs indicate that possible injuries have not yet been confirmed.
