San Jose grassfire breaks out along highway

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Firefighters battled a brush fire near the Highway 85 and 87 interchange on Monday afternoon, as the fire sent thick heavy smoke hovering over the area.

The fire brought traffic to a halt. 

Smoke and flames could be seen from the road. Emergency crews shut down the Santa Teresa Boulevard off-ramp. 

Fire crews quickly responded and deemed the fire under control by 2:10 p.m.
