R. Bret Beattie M.S., J.D. LL.M

Bret brings 30 years of trial experience, both plaintiff and defense, throughout the Southwestern United States to J&Y Law.  His depth of injury experience includes product defect, toxic exposure, trucking and auto accidents, premises and negligent security, wrongful death and malpractice cases.  Skilled in complex commercial litigation as well, Bret is experienced where it counts.  

Mr. Beattie is licensed in California, Texas and Colorado where he has tried numerous jury trials to verdict in state and federal courts. He argued multiple appeals in federal and state appellate courts as well.  He was privileged to practice with talented mentors in Los Angeles beginning in 1990 and later in Dallas, Texas.  In 2008 he founded The Bret Beattie Law Firm, LLC in Denver, Colorado which practices under the service mark Firepower Law®. 

With a unique background as a CPA in his first career, Bret brings an unexpected range of strategic talents to his trials. Bret is sought for cross-examining difficult opposing experts,  especially those involving complex damages.  His financial fluency culminated with a law master’s degree (LL.M) focused on securities law from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law in 2002.

Bret has handled the most complex of cases including wrongful death, catastrophic injury, business torts, intellectual property, and a $900 million securities fraud case involving the historic collapse of Enron Corporation.

In 2006 The Securities Regulation Law Journal published The New Minefield article referenced below which became a recommended read for the Wall Street securities bar.
