Kate Harvey-Lee, Esq.
Kate Harvey-Lee is a senior trial lawyer at J&Y Law and focuses her practice on complex litigation, with an emphasis on commercial transportation, wrongful death, and traumatic brain injury cases. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyer Rising star since 2005 and as a Super Lawyer every year since 2014, and she has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® every year since 2013. She has also been named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers list and the Nation’s Top One Percent of the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. Ms. Harvey-Lee is board certified in Truck Accident Litigation through the National Board of Trial Advocacy.* She is the immediate past chair of the Bus Litigation Group for the American Association of Justice and a member of the American Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys. When she is not in the courtroom, she is a frequent speaker at seminars and writes articles featured in various legal publications on issues related to handling complex personal injury litigation and is a fierce advocate for safety issues. She also is called upon to make frequent appearances on radio and television to discuss safety issues during news coverage of commercial transportation accidents.
Ms. Harvey-Lee earned her undergraduate degree with University Honors in Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and her law degree from Whittier Law School, where she graduated summa cum laude, earning a perfect score in Evidence and top honors in Torts and Legal Writing. While in law school, she clerked in the chambers of Justice Earl Johnson, Jr., with the California Second District Court of Appeals and led competitive teams for both the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Honors boards.
Since law school, Ms. Harvey-Lee has represented plaintiffs in civil litigation at some of California’s most prestigious plaintiffs’ firms and has been instrumental in the resolution of hundreds of matters, either by trial, arbitration or settlement, recovering many millions of dollars over the years. Most importantly, she has been a true advocate and compassionate counselor to her many clients as they have navigated some of the most difficult times of their lives.
